| I think with this years jazz team we could've beat GSW team in five games and then you take a nuggets team that would've took us out in five and GSW puts nugs out tonight? I'm gonna say that bitch job and 25 thousand$ fined worked out for MJ and his young warrors team. Still pissed about them tanking last year. We should've got H Barnes and not this year 20th pick. Ba$tru)s! | |

Agree with your sentiment on GS's last year's tank job. And, I do think it was real tank job. (And that really piises me off when I think about the fine given to San Antonio's coach for resting 4 overworked players in a game against Miami.) However, I think M. Jackson has done an incredible job in rebuilding a team that almost nobody predicted would even reach the finals. Jackson had to deal with serious delays in Bogut's recovery. He had to deal with Curry's injuries and Curry's long history of injuries. He had to deal with losing one of his best players (Lee) in the 1st game of the post-season. Jackson is using Harrison Barnes in his regular rotation! IMO, Jackson deserve Coach of the Year. So, I'm kinda: F the GSWarriors, and, dmn, the GSWarriors cuz they done good. I don't think, though, no matter what lineup we could have thrown at the Warriors, we could have beaten them in a 7 game series. (And, I think the only hope the Jazz would have had against the Warriors was a heavy dose of what most people on this site seem to think is a horrible Jazz lineup, which would leave DC and Burkes not getting much playing time. MoWill, Foye, HeyHay/Marv Will, Millsap/Favors, BigAl/Kanter may have been able to outmatch GS (but, probably not if Lee hadn't gone down). The amazing electricity of DC on the court would not have prevented GS from playing 5 on 4 defense (heir defense would have been: shoot it or pass it, because the only thing you're really good at on offense is getting to the rim and hustling after missed shots that the bigs don't gather up-- any time you have the ball in your hands on the perimeter, we'll win it second by second). If we chose Burkes over Tinsley, GS would have sent us a "Thank You" card, and let Curry rest a bit more while Jarret Jack tore us apart both offensively and defensively. (Sorry, that seems harsh, since I'm actually a fan of both Burks and moreso, DC.) Anyway, let's keep the discussion going. I still have a tremendous respect and admiration for us Jazz fans.

Hard to beat any team when you can't win on the road. Jazz had match up advantages all season against beatable teams on the road and couldn't get it done. Way more to it than that. Remember, on paper, the Jazz were a very good team. If they had placed even half decent ball on the road they would have actually been a good team. As it turns out, they were a lottery team quality club this year. Tip my hat to GSW, despite the tank job - talk about doing a lot with less talent, on paper, than most teams in the West.

Ya, I hate Mark Jackson, I really do, but when you look at how he used his young players, and how he used his very capable veterans, it just makes you more dissapointed in what happened with the Jazz this year. The fact that Corbin critics who said that the young players were bing underused and that his rotations made no sense are being proven right, by Mark Jackson of all people, makes me physically ill.

Wow, Mags, that's an opinion I didn't expect out of you! It wasn't Mark Jackson that tanked his team (I forget who the coach was, but, it wasn't Jackson). Jackson came on board to rebuild the team after the tanking (if I remember right). I may be wrong, but-- could someone check out on that? I have tremendous respect for Jackson. He's a new coach that has led his team further than anyone expected. Apparently Richardale knew enough at some point to say GS would push the Jazz out of the playoffs-- so, I'm guessing he has some respect for Jackson as well.

| Albeit GS lost last night, but I noticed that very late in the second overtime last night, Jackson put in undrafted rookie Kent Bazemore, who had fresh legs. Bazemore then made what appeared to be the game winning layup for GS with three seconds left. Then I think back to our four overtime loss to Atlanta two seasons ago. In what was an early sign of Corbin's intransigence, his lack of creativity regarding rotations and matchups and his unfavorable attitude toward young players, Corbin pretty much played Jefferson, Millsap, Hayward, Harris and Miles non stop through the four overtimes to total exhaustion and a loss while fresh legs Favors, Burks, Kanter, Evans and Carroll languished on the bench.
I think that game against Atlanta was when I first began to have serious doubts about Corbin. Several of us posted our frustrations the next day.

I do think Mark J brings the best out of his guys and will step up and take 25 thousand dollar fine if he feel it will help his guys out to second round. But he was at the head of the tank job and i'm sure it came down from the owner when he did it. We cant blame it all on Jackson if it comes from the higher up. I felt at the time it would help there young guys grow and vets to heal up for a strong next year witch we can all see worked out quit well for them. I love a coach that tells his players they are the best and thats big with a bunch of young guys. Never seen any of that out of Ty last year other than when he had to play young guys because of injuries to others. Like someone brought up Ty ran the older players into the ground hoping for a win. Just take a look at Pops and how he played his vets over the year? Its really stupid coaching and thats why i'm ok if they let Ty go, If they want to give him another year it mite back fire with these young guys learning and believing in themself. Someone joked about signing a old vet and playing him all game, but that mite be more truth to that that meets the eye? Time to show faith in these guys and give them the team and see what they can do. I feel like they got game and will be up for it! Now draft shane Larkin next year, jazz!

Last season was the tank season for GS and Mark Jackson was the coach. The thing I find somewhat hypocrytical is when the league considers changing the rules to eliminate hacking a poor free throw shooter as a strategy, but, allows team to tank a season to postion themselves better in the draft without blinking an eye. If a player doesn't want to be hacked, they should improve their FT shooting ala Karl Malone and Tim Duncan (having the best year of his career). With work and coaching and more work a player and coach can take away hacking as a viable strategic option. Tanking on the other hand is not something which has any place is competitive sports. Sometimes it makes me scratch my head over the leagues priorities. GSW's performance this year only serves to magnify the depths to which they sunk to tank last season. I hope the Spurs end their season, because the further along they get, the more my frustration grows with their ability to tank and get away with it.

| Reality is sometimes the best you can do for your own organization is to tank it. And you should do it when you have really young dudes filled with abilities and potential in the first years of their careers. They should have done it post John and Karl; they should have done it post D-Will. But they didn't. Now they have assets and $$$ for kind of horrible draft and FA classes, and if they want to tank it they will be doing it with players like Hayward and Favors going already into the end of their contracts... I dare to say that it wasn't a good planning job, that they know it and that that's the cause they're now preaching patience... Really guys... go get some of the Zen stuff Phil Jackson use to throw around... I guess we will need it | |

Hold on a minute there Space. Are you suggesting a tank last year or this would have done shit for the Jazz? Its part of a plan. To keep butts in the seats and potentially to be relevant. Butts in seats = relevant. The franchise has been around for a few years and has some idea of that formula; it is a bizness afterall. Like selling cars. And this year's draft horrible? Hardly. If you ain't first or fourth pick it is all a crap-shoot, the rest is deeper than the pundits think. Jazz have TWO first rounders and one is lottery, plus a second. That there is riches!

Allways that chance and that would be nice. Not sure the top is that much better than some of the picks in the teens? While there might not be a big difference talent wise between the top and some of the picks in the teens, pressure wise, it's a world of difference. Even in a weak draft the number 1-3 picks will face enormous pressure to succeed and quickly, while the 4-12 picks will face only slightly less pressure.

For some reason (maybe because I'm a Jazz fan and overlook negatives about former Jazz players) I thought Jackson came back AFTER the tank-job arm-wrestling match between the Jazz tanking and GS tanking. Still, I think Mark Jackson was an incredibly good pg in the game, and has already established himself as a very good coach in the NBA.
