I have to say I really don't like the way the new format is setup can't really tell by the first glance the difference between the quote or the response, I liked the old style better and would rather have it setup like it was. JMHO

I agree, it's super annoying.  But we didn't change it, I think it was a change that was pushed down from the host, likely an upgrade of the PHP server software, and I'm not sure that we can do anything about it.

I may have something that will make that moot very soon though...

END OF MAGNUS QUOTE.

I agree with Dongib on this-- and, there must be a way around it.  It looks to me like I am typing in the section reserved for Magnus' quote (that's why I typed in all caps "END OF MAGNUS QUOTE.").  I'll post this and see what it looks like to everyone else.

This really looks like a serious flaw in the system.  I'm pretty sure everyone who has a site with forumotion is saying the same thing: WTF?  I'll spend a few minutes trying to figure out if there is anything I can do to help the situation (this is Saint Louis typing).  But, I don't know if this is something the administrators would need to address instead of me (I haven't tried anything yet).  But, yeah, to me, it looks like Forumotion has made a mistake.

I sent a message using the "contact" icon under FAQs, but, I'm not sure if it went to people at Forumotion, or to our own administrators.

Hopefully, this will be resolved shortly-- as we have some good discussions going on about free agents and the draft coming up in two weeks.

Figured out how to be able to post your own stuff again. click on the formatting button at the top, it's in the bulleting section. Top row, sixth over from the right. Click, then come down to the white section.

Ya saint, that went out the moderators.  Looks like Mu finally figured it out for all of us.

Now that he has, my announcement seems a little less pressing, but I will make it none the less.

There are multiple issues associated with this forum, not the least of which being we really have no control over what goes on behind the scenes, so Romo and I started talking about possibly hosting the forum ourselves.

Since I went ahead and bought the UtahJazzNation.com domain and a 3 year hosting agreement for the blog, I thought it would be a good idea to see if I could also host a forum on the same domain.  After a little bit of messing around and some trial and error Romo and I were able to get a forum up and running, and we think it is probably time to go ahead and make the change.

I'll be posting announcements in each forum to make sure nobody misses it, but the plan is to start migrating over there this week, and by the end of the week lock this forum down and just keep it as an archive/backup in case something goes horribly wrong with the new site.

I hope this doesn't create more problems than it is worth, but I really think it is going to be the best thing in the long run.  No more ads, no more unexpected updates/format changes, and we have control over the site from top to bottom.

Head over and let me know what you think or if you have any problems, I definitely want to hear any feedback you guys have.

Ya, the last move was kind of a forced thing though, so it doesn't really count.  Romo did an awesome job getting this place set up, but we've been talking about setting up a board that was really ours for a few months now.

I'm really glad those who started this forum did what they did (Romo et al).  I enjoyed the Tribtalk forum, and was sad to see it go.  I moved to this forum hoping it would be a decent replacement for the lost Tribtalk forum.  And, it HAS done a pretty good job of keeping some of the old TribTalk going.

But, every time the forum moves, we'll lose contributers to the previous forums.  There are two ways to look at this: one is that a new forum will weed out contributers that aren't devoted to the forum; or, there's the view that the new forum would eliminate objective comments that don't go along with the majority.  By moving forums (again), we may stand more to lose than gain.

Isn't there a way to fix the problems with forumotion without giving up on it?

BTW, I tried to sign up to the other forum using the link provided, and couldn't get in-- probably because I used the same login and password for this forum.  It makes sense that you would need to start over again to join the new forum, but, I didn't want to do it yet.  This forum isn't very big, so, why would I want to join an even more exclusive forum?  Sorry to be the Devil's Advocate on this, but, really, another move?

Mt Jazz:
Just do it.  Do not question.  Or, miss out on all of our enlightened banter.  I think our moderators have higher bloggish ambitions, which is good, they are competing with SLC Dunk on the home run swing, and why wouldn't we all support that?  I for one will follow our fearless leaders until they don't play me the minutes I deserve, because I'm totally under-utilized and another team would appreciate me, (and pay on a better long-term contract), plus there are respect issues I i havewith the coach.....Nah, seriously, I'm not that good, I'll follow the alpha dogs.  Think of it as a forum re-building process.  Some cagey veterans and draft some new hot young guys and damn, suddenly relevant.

Ahh Saint, I think you are great, love your contributions to the board, but sometimes you really do sound like a curmudgeonly old man.

A couple things to soothe your concerns...

This board isnt' going away like the TT did, it's just going dormant.  We will all be able to come back here at any time and see what we or others said or didn't say, and users who don't check in often will be able to come back weeks or months from now and know where to find us, but we are going ot lock it down so no more posting will be allowed.

There's not intent to "weed" anybody out here.  On the contrary, the hope is that we can get all of the users here to move over, and to integrate the new forum better with other media, like the blog and twitter, and bring in more Jazz fans that have our, lets say "sophisticated", taste for Jazz related banter.  I don't think any of the Mods here want to attract masses of people and turn this into huge place with tons of users like SLCDunk or jazzfanz, but if we can attract some more intelligent Jazz fans I think that would be a good thing.

Yes, you will have to re-register at the new site.  You can use your same user name and password or change it up, totally up to you.

Hope to see you there soon!
