| John Wall has only been back in the lineup for a handful of games. He's playing limited minutes. Does Wall go for 25 or more Points+Assists? | |

Under.
And I'm worried about this game. Washington has won 5 of 7, nearly beat the Clippers and DID beat Denver!
And I'm going to the game. My "one a year".

And I'm going to the game. My "one a year". Of all the games for your "one a year" -- really, the Wiz? I could be wrong but Wall back in the lineup does not suddenly make them a good team. And if the Jazz want to be legit, they CANNOT drop a home game to the second worst team in the league!

And if the Jazz want to be legit, they CANNOT drop a home game to the second worst team in the league! Well, they could have dropped it, pretty easily. "2nd-worst record" /= "2nd-worst team". Fortunately for the Jazz, the Whizz didn't play very well. It wasn't until the bench guys came in (Heyward/Carroll/Favors/Kanter) that the Jazz took off and built up a 20+ pt lead, which the returning starters partially gave away. Kanter had 4 FGA and 2 FTA and made all for 10 pts. His reward? 3 2nd-half minutes in an ineffective tandem with Big Al. (And Favors got to play with Millsap. Also ineffective). Wall was mostly invisible, despite the numbers, other than a few plays where the refs inexplicably bailed him our on bad plays, or where he flopped. Late 3rd and most of the 4th quarter, it seemed like all the Jazz players were thinking it had to be someone elses' job to maintain the lead, and they almost gave the game away. There was even booing. As for it being the Whizz, I'm not a coach, an NBA GM, ex-D1 player or expert commentator, so the "quality" of the play in not determinative of my enjoyment, I like Basketball, and all basketball is interesting to me. I'll watch high school, college, junior jazz, playground, kids shooting around in their driveways, bikini-clad supermodels shooting baskets in a beachside park...I just like basketball. And the tickets were free, as I insist. *-to be fair, I also like bikini-clad supermodels shooting pool, B-CSM playing leapfrog, B-CSM practicing the meditative art of trampolining and topless, thong-wearing supermodels doing yoga. So that's not really a basketball thing, I guess.

| You forgot the biggest travesty of all Troll, at least Kanter played in the second half, Demarre Carroll second half minutes = 0.
I actually enjoyed almost everything about this game until Burks and Watson reported in together at the end of the 3rd quarter.
I could easily blame Corbin for that stupid, stupid, rotation, but the fact is that the Jazz were up 17 on a team with the worst record in the NBA that was also playing the 6th game of a 6 game road trip. He should have been fine to go with Watson, Burks, Hayward, Favors, and Kanter (how about that Core 4?!?) and have that group at least protect the lead. But they didn't, they absolutely crapped the bed, and in just 4 minutes watched a 17 point game that felt like a blowout turn into a 3 point game that felt like it was slipping away. That's really the bottom line for me in this one, you can talk about coaching tactics and rotations (the real irony here is that many Jazz fans have been clamoring to see more of this lineup), but ultimately it is that the players that just have to play.

| Troll, I got free tickets to this one (nose-bleed) just a few hours before tip-off. I took my older son, who really has no knowledge of basketball, but knows that dad loves it.
The boo's were completely warranted. That small stretch was so bad that it turned an easy win into a freakin' close game. What it take, about 3 minutes?
Couldn't believe that Kanter didn't play more. He was GREAT in the first half, and Jefferson (5-17 FG's, 1-2 FT's, 11 points in 33 minutes) was terrible all game long. Fortunately the Wizards shot about 30% for most of the game.
Hayward looked like the best player on the court for most of the night.
Anyway,
Jazz won by 4. Wall did not reach 25 points+assists (22)

Jazz won by 4. Wall did not reach 25 points+assists (22) Yeah, I had nosebleeds, too. I was the guy with the skinny blond kid (MY oldest son) and the ripped-out-sounding voice (I lost my voice right after Xmas and it's just barely coming back). The Jazz play too passive with a lead, in a couple of ways: 1) they seem to start "running the clock" WAAAY too early. You don't start milking possessions with 9 minutes to go, I don't care WHAT the score is! You didn't get the lead running 18 seconds off the clock before doing anything on offense, how do you expect to keep a lead that way? AND 2) they really DO start "jackpotting around", and if anyone is at all unsure what Sloan always meant by that, last night's game was it. I'm sure we'd have heard it in the post-game if Jerry was still around. It's taking 17-footers after making a half-assed move to get open, just because you can, acting like you don't care if you missed it, playing casual defense, and then taking another one after the other team scores! Or worse, one of your teammates takes one, because YOU took one. Pretty soon, everybody's just jackpottin' around and Sloan's ready to lose a game in the hopes it'll teach the guys a lesson. Jackpotting around is also "Check out this move, man! What the hell, we're up by 15...oops...13, I guess..."
