Sloan Comming Back to the Jazz?

Looks like Sloan may be comming into the Jazz front office...

Twenty-eight months after resigning from being the Jazz's head coach, the Hall of Famer is open to considering taking a role with his old organization to help the rebuilding franchise and his successor, Tyrone Corbin.

"That's up to (them). That's a situation that's strictly up to Ty or somebody in the Jazz organization," Sloan told the Deseret News. "If they want me around, fine. If they don't, (fine). They'd talked to me a little bit about it a little bit earlier."

Sloan didn't say whether or not an offer was made. Nor did he specify whether a possible return would be as a consultant, a coach or in the front office. The 71-year-old, who still lives in Utah, is very respectful of Corbin, his former assistant coach and player, and wouldn’t want to become a distraction.

"I'd hate to be in anybody's way," Sloan said.

I frigging love Sloan. Really hope that they give him a front office spot. I don't even care what it is, he should have an office whith the Jazz organization untill he dies, and then he should have a building named after him.

Also thought the Karl Malone angle in that interview was interesting, almost made it sound like Sloan may have had something to do with Malone getting hired on.

Seems like the first step to getting him back as the head coach to me.

Having Sloan back in the Jazz organization would be great for us. I would love to have him back as a head coach, but, I don't think that is likely. Still, I've always thought Sloan was most effective in his coaching before the Jazz even took the court-- so, Sloan could have a positive effect for the Jazz similar to his head coaching run.

Definitely does not hurt the organization to have Sloan hanging around at all the draft combines and evaluations - dude is HOF and spun Stockton-to-Malone into a contender plus oversaw one of the most successful franchise win streaks in the era.  I truthfully have no idea how he would be as a FO guy, though.  Hard to be him when you know you could out-coach the dude hired for the job every night. Corbin has to be the thorn in the pie - I mean, really, you think Jerry is impressed with what Corbin has done?  I really doubt it.  And if an "insider",you think he will not rock the boat? Jerry was many things but one he wasn't was a company yes-sir-happy-to-be here man.  Not sure this generation of Millers could tolerate his opinionated and unvarnished truth ways.

Whatever that is.  But, it is good.

I'm still not understanding what his role with the Jazz actually is, but it can't be a bad thing having Jerry around.

Jerry is gonna be on the board and when tys boat starts leaking Jerry will help putting his finger inside the holes! weeeeeeeeee I love it.

I guess I'm the only one that isn't glad to see Jerry back.  If he does what he says and just contributes where needed with player evaluation that would be good but as much as I don't like Ty as coach, the guy is doomed with everybody and their dog telling him what to do.  I'll bet anything this is the first step to Jerry coming back as head coach...until he diecides to leave mid season again.
